DUNURE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 15 JUNE 2010 IN KENNEDY HALL, DUNURE, AT 7.30PM

SEDERUNT:

Mr Phil Findlay(Chair); Mr Roy Storie(Treasurer); Mrs Jean McGinn, (Secretary) Mr Adam Montgomerie; Mr Rod Kruse, Mrs Dorothy Ward.
IN ATTENDANCE: Councillor Sandra Goldie; Councillor Mairi Low; Mrs Thea Petticrew, P C David Stewart.

APOLOGIES: Mr A Guthrie.

2. Adoption of minutes for meeting of Tuesday 18 May 2010 Proposed by Mr Rod Kruse, Seconded Mr Adam Montgomerie.

3. POLICE REPORT: The only incidents reported in the last month were missing person which was resolved, and vandalism to a car at Croy. Secretary also had received an email in response to last month’s questions: School bus reversing into parking area - driver and company have been spoken to by police. Truck in lay-by - haven’t managed to track driver down but may not be parking there in mornings at present. Helicopter in park - Police have spoken to owner who assures them he had to park there as the field he had permission to land on had animals in it. However he assures police he will not land in Kennedy Park unless there is an emergency. Mrs Ward advised police of the theft of a bottle of champagne from village shop but perpetrator was spoken to and asked to pay for this bottle, which he did. Mrs Ward also asks if the police when they come on their monthly visit with their mobile office, have a walk round about and let residents get to know them.

4. COUNCILLOR’S REPORT: Councillor Goldie again stressed that there will be cuts in services and will see what she can do about the need for repairs on Station Road. She also states that in the future Community Councils will play a more important role in what is needed for local communities.

Councillor Low stresses the need to encourage tourism and that we should be able to get a share of wind farm money. She suggests that the CCCF are helping by trying to connect all the villages in in the Carrick area of South Ayrshire. It has been suggested that all relevant community councils should pay a fee of £50 to help in their work to get funding. Our members are not in agreement with this as so far we have not received any wind farm money. A book has been published by CCCF and is on sale for £7.99.

5. LINK OFFICER’S REPORT: Mrs Petticrew explained how the system of garage site allocations worked and if anyone is wanting more information they should contact the office in Maybole. She has had the Roads Department look at the fallen fence from dairy to harbour but feels that her Department will have to replace this. Regarding the condition of roads she suggests we contact Mr Sanderson, Road Maintenance and ask him to come to our meeting to explain their roads projects. Advised Mrs Petticrew that the shrubs opposite the Waste Water Treatment Works are needing cut back as this is on a bend and to avoid the holes in the road vehicles move to the middle of the road and are unable to see traffic coming up from the village. Asked Mrs Petticrew to find out about maintenance at Old Kirkbride which is usually strimmed once a year.

6.. MATTERS ARISING

Sewage problem in Kennedy Park has been resolved and the area the workman had used for equipment has been left in a tidy condition.

Letter received from Mr Murphy, Chair of Harbour Association. They are hoping to focus on the lighthouse funding and suggest a joint team. Secretary will ask for more details. Mr Storie would be willing to help as he has spent some time researching this subject.

The road sign at the top of Station Road has been erected. The only problem is that the old posts have not been removed. Mrs Petticrew will attend to this

Hedge on left side of Kennedy Drive has been cut
